Half the year gone and no phatest album of the year so far.  Well here it is for the year 2000.....

I have to give it to Common for Like Water for Chocolate, he was recently voted on of the coldest lyricist by Vibe Mag.  Along with Twista, Xibit and Rass Kass!  None of them have any new stuff out.  I might think they should add KRS1, he never fell of on the rhymes.  It does look like he fell off the face of the earth though.  I love the rhymes and beats.  Smooth and hard at the same time.  This album is a very good purchase.  Who's gonna fade him this year?  Bobby Digital said he's about to, with his arsenal of over 200 beats, Whoa!  Ghost Face is right behind him.  Sorry I have no clips as of yet, the Rawkus web site is down.  This year should be good!
HipHope special featured Artist - Pharaoh Monche had the Phatest Album of the 1999 that honor was shared with Sway & King Tech with Prince Paul, Method Man, Blackmoon, the Roots and Busta right on his tail......................
This is almost the phatest Hip Hop album of the year for '99, plain and simple the production is dope and Red and Meth went off on the Mic.  This is definitely the one to have.  Don't get me wrong Sway and Tech still is very phat, but Meth and Red killed it.

Now let me tell you why this was the phatest Hip Hop album of the year for '99.  It has everyhing!  Freestyles, mixes, old school, new jams and original new production by Sway, Tech, Dj Revolution, Dj Premier and even Bobby Digital (RZA, for those who don't know).  There are freestyles by Eminem, Mobb Deep, Rza, Guru and more over break beats and originally produced beats.  Now if you don't know how Hip Hop is supposed to be, this is the album to check for.  Totally raw and on the unda.  See the cover how they're dressed up, on my record (that's right we still buy vinyl) they're on the top dressed up in suits drinking Krystal with briefcases full of money and on the bottom they're dressed up like RunDMC in a beboy stand, This or That is the name of the album.  I think he's trying to give Puffy and Mase a message to keep it real.  I'll take the underground Hip Hop with baggies jeans, sneakers, Timerlands, baseball hats, Optimo smokin' over the suit wearing Krystal drinking, Cuban cigar smoking Hip Hoppers any day.  I think the masses are gettin' hip to the fake-a__ Hip Hoppers who are only in it for the money and chicken heads.  But I like the Hip Hop philosophies by Guru and Primo.  Click to hear Chino XL (where's your album at, huh?) and KRS1 rip a phat freestyle.

Check out Chi's own dj maryjane, featured dj on Reeshawn Radio.  Reeshawn Radio was out for a while, but now I've gathered up some dj's and here's who first.  This fly dj rips some of the best instrumentals I've heard.  Peep her on at Subterranean on Sundays and Tuesdays.  Sunday she rips with another tight-a__ female dj ampm who is known for her rare grooves (guess who's next on Reeshawn Radio).  Click the Reeshawn Radio icon on the navigation bar or her pretty face and listen to 60 minutes of dj maryjane rip the Hip Hop instrumentals.  This is the Reeshawn Radio arcive, my girl is mad nice on the tables.

The Roots and Prince Paul samples will play through most firewalls.  Others won't but we are working to make it so that you will have the option to download or stream.  The download Real Audio files will play through the firewall.  Each sample takes about 40 seconds to download.  Have fun.
Now how the hell long has it been since we heard from these brovas?  Five years, they must have been busy as hell.  Lets see I haven't heard much from 5ft, Evil had a couple of groups he was puttin' out, and what about the Crooklyn Dogers with Buck.  I guess they just wanted to get back like the old days and bang with the original crew.  They said something about experiencing the business side of the industry.  They did very well with the production and the beats.  This album is about a hairline short of being better than the Roots album.  I'm sure someone will beat them but this is close.  I love this album, the Beatminers came off and so did Buck and 5 foot.  This is worth buying.  Click the pic for a sample song (except if you are at work, sorry no download version available to get through the firewall, the Trax page is all firewall ready.  www.real.com has a new version that works through the firewall for $15 though).

Did y'all know that Ghost is doing a 4 - 6 month bid for jackin' somebody up while  on tour with fellow Wu members.  He can do that with no problem.  He'll be out in a soon though, and so will his new album.  Would you like to hear a sample check it. Mighty Healthy and Cobra Clutch

This dude was heard freestyling on a LA radio station and was snatched up by Dre.  Dre must have been thinkin' "I need something different."  Then he turns on the radio and hears him and immediatley puts him on tour and works on an album.  I've been hearin' his name for a minute but didn't pay him too much mind.  He's OK, to pop for my blood, but cool for the kids, naaahmeeen?

Click for Dj E&J's Def Jam Artists Page read a bio and hear songs and videos from each artist!!!!!
Remember Choclair from Canada, check his new single "Flagrant"

Definitely check out Lady Saw's 99 ways, the album is slammin'.  My favorite track on the album is "Don't Even Stress Dat."  This is your all Jamaican reggae smash, produced by Danny Browne.  Sounds hardcore, but than again Lady Saw was always raw.  That's the same chick that said "...turn on the fire whine me tonight, if your much too small, don bother try."  I wasn't gonna buy the joint at first, because as a rule I only buy my reggae from Jamaican owned record stores (makes sense huh?) because I usually get jerked in the big name stores buying crap.  But I took a chance and was it worth it, if you like hardcore reggae, unamricanized (there are a few americanized jams but they sound OK and not too "popish."  There is also a hidden track at the end that is her live, raw, uncut and accappella.  You should buy the album just for that (if you can understand the lingo), I won't sample that one for you.  Keep the underground Hip Hop going, buy all recordings.

Y'all said, "Yeah she's fly but can she spit?" .  Charlie Baltimore's album was pushed back with no date.  Her rapp sounds good, but they're using that played out "money" sample.  Some producers don't know the Meaning of a "RARE groove!"  But so far I like the flows but not the beat on "Money."  The "NBC" beat sounds phat to me.
