Quintescence brining back the essense of Hip Hop
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, Hip Hop, Introduction, Music
The other night at the Tribute to Scott La Rock I met this rapper named Quintescence. My first thought was female
MC’s that rip are non-existant in today’s rap world which is plagued by garbage. Lil Kim, fell off, Foxy Brown, fell off, Charli Baltimore, never took off, MC Lyte, not recording any more, Queen Latifa, not recording any more. Rap gals of today are represented by Trina, Princess and Jackie O. Not that’s a bad thing but it’s just not enough. Here comes Quitescence bringing the raw through the undaground straight from the Boogie Down (where I was born and raised). She comes with an original rap flow, sounds just like she’s from the birth place of Hip Hop. To top it off she keeps it old skool remembering her roots. She does parties called Hip Hop Savior up in the Boogie hosted by legendary Grandmaster Caz. I was impressed when I listened to her music and saw some of her videos. Played on Hot 97 and AllHipHop.com is a few of her achievments. No doubt the next big thing in Hip Hop that’s why we’re going to try to start recording with her. Her looking good also helps her chances, but she doesn’t seem like the type to go half naked to get where she needs to be, that is a good thing. Check out her music and videos on the links below. Her own blog page coming soon if I have anything to do with it.
Bump J gets 7 years
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, News
Undaground Chicago rapper Bump J gets sentenced to 7 years for a bank robbery in Chicago back on Jan 4th 2007
(he probably got caught because it was so damn cold, Chicago has brutal winters, and yes Chicago winters are worse than NY winters). He got made off with over $100 g’s that day, but too bad he got caught. He faced with a life sentence not because of the robbery which only gets you 37-46 months but for menacing a working with a pistol. Damn so there he smartly pleads to 7 years. Well let’s hope he keeps up his lyrics while on lock, maybe he’ll get a record deal when he gets out. But to me, that wasn’t worth it, he goes to jail for 7 years for only $100 g’s. If it was like a few mill he may have something to look forward to when he gets out, but $100 g’s he probably already spent that already on lawyers and stupidity.
Chris Brown interview
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, News
Here’s some more news on the gal beater Mr Brown, no not James, Chris! Here he is on Larry King Live with his moms and lawyer talking about how he doesn’t remember beating down Rihanna because he blacked out. I’m not going to say a lot about this over emphasized story, but check out his BS in this clip while talking to Mr King. The full show airs on Weds Sept 2nd (hey I didn’t have to look at the calendar for this date I remember it because it’s the day after Guitar Hero 5 comes out, LOL), make sure you check it out.
More Blueprint 3 leaks
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, Hip Hop, Music
When Jay Z has an album coming out, his biggest problem (or maybe not depending on how you look at it) are leaks. When the American Gangster album came out, I had a full album of entitled American Gangster about two or three months before it came out. The album that I actually bought had only like one or two songs from the bootleg. So he seems to do a good job of not having his music leaked. Memphis Bleek says he thinks Timbaland is the one leaking the songs out but didn’t really give a good reason why he thinks that. Personally the leaks can come from anywhere in this digital age. When Death of Autotune came out I gave you a link to download it because it was a freebee from Jay Z. His latest song Venus vs Mars is song that is actually out so I can let you hear it but can’t let you download it. Check it out on the player below.
Drugs found at Jadakiss’ leased apartment
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, News
Jadakiss has an apartment in Yonkers that he is leasing out (or was maybe now) where this weekend police found
drugs at. There was a search of a car parked in front of the building from suspicion by police officers. They found weed (marijuana, hemp, cannibus or whatever you want to call it) in the car. They obtained a search warrant for the house when one of the passengers ran. Dumb gangsta’s probably would’ve just got a marijuana possession if he didn’t run. Some people wanna be gansta but don’t know how to be gangsta. Any way when they searched the house they found 6.5 pounds of marijuana, 5 grams of heroin and around $40 g’s in the house. Sounds like an intent to sell, there’s no way they can say that was for personal use. Alberto Lajara and Gabriel R. Henriquez were arrested. Alberto the driver was charged with misdemenor drug charges while Gabriel, who was the fleer was arrest from felony drug charges. Jada said he was not there and had no involvment what so ever with the drugs. For his sake I hope this is true because these fake gangstas who got caught don’t seem like the type to not snitch. Now next time he has a crib he doesn’t want to use any more, instead of leasing maybe he’ll just take the penalty of early termination of his lease. Hey he may have nothing to do with the drugs found in the house but doesn’t he look mad blazed out in this pic.
Lil Wayne on VH1′s behind the music
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, News
When I first heard that VH1′s behind the music is doing a Lil Wayne piece I said WHY? But when I think about all that’s been going on with him lately, the drug abuse, two baby mom’s pregnant at the same time, several criminal charges, endless amounts of success regardless of rap skills, the biggest selling album (not rap album, just album) of 2008 plus the 4 Grammy’s he won in 2008, I was like Oh yeah. Basically Lil Wayne is great for tv, he has all the makings of a great show. Plus he bugs out so much on camera like the below inteverview with Katie Couric, he’s straight up funny with all the drama that we like to have on tv. He discusses music, himself, his family and more. Katie seems comfortable with him, joking around during the interview. I guess he can’t be all that bad. His Behind the Music show debuts on VH1 on Sept 15th.
Drake suspect behavior
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, News

What the hell is wrong with Drake?!?
A while back when Teyana Taylor said she thinks Drake is gay, I was like what’s wrong with this chick, why is she hating? He may be bi racial and from Canada (why are we all so hard on Canadians anyway?), but he’s out there doing his thing. I was think TT just needs some attention because she has some projects coming out. Now Bossip.com came out with these exclusive photos of Drake with some real suspect poses. Picture the picture to the left, wtf! I joke with my boyz and everything. We make gay jokes and all that also, but never in a mill would I make a pose like this. This seems like some really homo acts right here. Maybe it’s because Canadians act different from us here in the US, but on the real I have family up in Toronto and they never would act like this of find this behavior acceptable. There’s some other suspect pictures of him hugging these same people in a way that really looks suspect. So what’s the deal, was Teyana on to something or is Drake’s sense of humor just a bit different from ours? Check the rest of these suspect photos here on Bossip.com.
Drake and Trey Songz – Successful
by EJah on Aug.31, 2009, under Artists, Music
Drake and Trey Songz new joint entitled “Successful” has a new video that everyone is going crazy over. I must be old or something because everyone is going crazy over Drake. Jamie Fox even went so far to call him the next big thing. Maybe I’m old or maybe I just expect more from Rappers, but whatever my opinion is people love him. He does have a great R&B side to him, plus the ladies think he’s fine. Regardless of whatever photos he chooses to take. Check out the video below….
Wu Tang/Raekwon coming out in Sept
by EJah on Aug.17, 2009, under Artists, News

There’s been a big debat about Wu Tang. I needed to talk about this since one of the members who had one of their classic albums. Wu Tang’s debut “Enter the Wu-Tang” was a ground breaking album, that was raw and every song on it was a banger. Had a mixture of members that brought different aspects to the game, all of this behind a Kung Fu movie theme that every single Generation X Hip Hopper grew up watching (along with the rest of the world). Any way there’s been some debate about what was the best Hip Hop album ever made, “Enter the Wu-Tang” always comes up, along with the Dr Dre’s “the Cronic.” There are a few others when mentioning the best ever, but for the most part it always boils down to “the Cronic” and “Enter the Wu Tang” for most. Both got 5 mics from the Source back in the day. “Enter the Wu-Tang” originally got 4 but later they recanted (they were such sukas back in the day) and gave it 5 mics. Now the through a bunch of medocrae and straight up wack albums by member, the clan came out with some super classics. First Method Man’s “Tical,” Raekwon and Ghostface’s “Only Built for Cuban Links,” ODB’s “Return to the 36 Chambers,” GZA’s “Liquid Swords” and Ghostface’s “Supreme Clientel.” One banger after another but in the meantime terrible Wu-Tang group and solo efforts for years. It was apparent the world changing Wu-Tang clan has fallen off. Only being kept relevant by artists such as Ghostface, Method Man and RZA doing various hot projects here and there. As of today only Ghostface has been keeping it hot on wax for the most part. The last Wu-Tang group album was good, but not great. Now coming out is Rawkwon, doing an “Only Built for Cuban Links 2.” What, that’s way too bold since Cuban Links 1 was such a classic album. Hopefully this album won’t give the Cuban Links a bad name. But for some reason I don’t think that’s going to be the case. I think we should get hype about the new Cuban Links 2. I don’t think the album will top or be better than the original, that would be a great accompishment, but it should bang. He’s been busy beefing with Joe Budden for dissing Method Man, not an on wax beef but allegedly a backstage beef (that he is denying involment in, hard to keep up with Wu-Tang since they’re the deepest group around). He seems to have found a new passion for the game and is trying to take it back to the streets. There is one big difference between CL 1 and CL 2, part 2 will not feature the production of RZA due to scheduling conflicts, but supposedly producers who can challenge RZA’s production skills. The rap game has changed since the release of the Cuban Links, rappers like Soulja Boy, Young Jeezy Gucci Mayne and others. But if this album is in the shadow of the original it should be all good. Hip Hop is going back the streets and out of the clubs with this one.

Daisy’s Desk (New column, by R&B consultant Daisy)
by EJah on Aug.05, 2009, under News
Here is the story…. rich boy singer meets rich girl singer. They enter into a relationship and try to lie about the
relationship. Of course they lie but pictures taken by many intruding eyes says different. Finally boy singer and girl singer admit to the relationship that they were never in. For a while everything seems great until one faithful night when boy singer beats the hell out of girl singer…Of course, I am talking about Rihanna and Chris Brown. These two have been through the ringer, but it gets better. Today the courts will sentence Chris Brown to approx 5 years robation and a couple thousand hours in community service. The story should end there with each side learning their lesson. Rihanna’s lesson should be to stay the hell away from guys that beat the hell out of her and Chris should learn to stay away from girls who piss him off enough to beat the hell out of them…but nooooooo! These two dysfunctional lovebirds are planning to petition the court to lift Chris Brown’s restraining order. Rumor has it that they are dating again. This just goes to show that money does not buy common sense! I of course would opt for not getting beat the hell up AGAIN! Once is enough, if not too many times for me. LOL.

NYC Real Hip Hop Concert
by EJah on Aug.05, 2009, under Artists, Events, Hip Hop
We have had a lack of real Hip Hop concerts lately. There doesn’t seem to be a big market for it. It’s like people are mindless lately, liking every that the radio pumps out 100 times a day. Hey I was like that once upon a time. But actually back in the day the songs played on the radio was what the people actually wanted. Now it’s not like that any more. So since we can control the airwaves, here comes events like this one. Throw by Black Monoply Records. This is part two of the Golden Age of Hip Hop. Part one was such a hype concert, this one is no doubt going to be blaze too. So if you’re in the NYC area on August 29, 2009 make sure you stop by to check this concert out. Black Monopoly Records is run by Eric King a cousin of Selectah EJah, HipHope.com’s resident DJ. Here’s the mission statement of Black Monoply records…..
Black Monopoly Records was conceived in the mind of Eric King. Since 1994 Eric has made strides in various ventures, and this is his biggest undertaking to date. His biggest influences have been KRS-1, Africa Bambaataa, and Public Enemy. His goal is to produce quality acts in the entertainment business and also sponsor and have events that will keep people talking. So look out for us this year and for years to come. When you see BMR you know the EVENT will be HOT!
Over the years I’ve been influenced by DJ’s like Scott la Rock of Boogie Down Productions, Red Alert, Jam Master Jay and Kid Capri to name a few. I’ve been djing for about ten years now, and promoting events for 7 years. I have shared the DJ spotlight with hot 97s DJ’s Cocoa Chanelle and Fat Man Scoop. And also the World Famous DJ Brucie B.
I would like to take this moment to say Rest In Peace to the following people: my father Donald King, Scott la Rock of Boogie Down Productions, B.O. from the Zulu Nation, Easy E of N.W.A, Notoris B.I.G, Tupac, Big L, Trouble T-roy from Heavy D & the Boys, left eye of TLC, Jam Master J of Run-DMC, Aaliyah, Buffy from the Fat Boys, Cowboy from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, mighty Mike Ski from the dismaster’s, MC Trouble, and Freaky Tah of the Lost Boys.

Eminem goes hard on Mariah and Nick
by EJah on Aug.05, 2009, under Artists, Music, News
Holy hell, what’s wrong with Eminem?!? He went off on Mariah Carey for not recognizing him some kind of way. Like
back in the day they were f**ing and she denied it. Now Eminem is mad, then Nick Cannon said some wack rhymes about Eminem on Twitter and Eminem made a full song about them. Mariah made a video depicting Eminem in it. Wow, I was in shock, when I hear the lyrics, I don’t think they should’ve went there with Em, because he’s lyrically brutal. I’m going to post the lyrics but if you heard something about this beef I’m missing please comment.
Only reason I dissed you in the first place is because you denied seeing me
Now I’m pissed off
Sit back and relax homey, kick back and relax, grab a six pack while I kick s
Yeah Dre’s sick track, perfect way to get back
Wanna hear something wick wack?
I got the exact same tattoo that’s on Nick’s back
I’m obsessed now
Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee
Wow Mariah, I didn’t expect her to go balls out
Bitch, shut the fu*ck up before I put all them phone calls out you

You probably think since it’s been so long if i had something on you I
woulda did it by now
On the contrary, Mary Poppins, I’m mixing our studio session down and
sending it to mastering to make it loud
Enough dirt on you to murder you
This is what the fu*ck I do
Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?
However you prefer to do and goes for you too, Nick, you got
You think I’m scared of you?
You gonna ruin my career you better get one
Like I’ma sit and fight with you over some slut bitch cu*nt who made
me put up with her psycho ******* over 6 months and only spread her
legs to let me hit once
Yeah, what you gonna say? I’m lucky? Tell the public that I was so
ugly that you had to be drunk to me?
Second base? What the fu*ck you tell Nick, punk?
In the second week we was dry humping. It’s gotta count for something.
Listen, girly. Surely you don’t want me to talk about how I nutted
early cos ejaculated early and bus all over your belly, and you almost
started hurling and said I was gross, go get a towel you’re stomachs
curling. Or maybe you do.
But if I’m embarrassing me, I’m embarrassing you and don’t you dare
say it isn’t true.
As long as the song’s getting airplay I’m dissing you.
I’m a hair away from getting carried away and getting sued.
I was gonna stop at 16. This is 32. This is 34 bars. We ain’t even a
third of the way through.
*******, Slim. Mariah played you. Mariah who?
Oh did I say “whore”, Nick? I meant a liar too.
Like I’ve been goin off on you all this time for no reason.
Girl you out ya alcholic mind. Check ya wine cellar. Look at all the
amounts of wine.
Like I sit around and think about you all the time.
I just think this is funny when I pounce you on a rhyme.
But it now i’m about to draw the line.
And for you to cross it that’s a mountain that I doubt you wanna climb.
I can describe areas of your house that you wouldn’t find on an episode of Cribs
A blubba load ribs (?) so don’t go opening your jibs cos every time
you do it’s just another load of fibs
I ain’t saying this shi*t again, ho. You know what it is.
It’s a warning shot for before I blow up ya whole spot
Call my bluff and I’ll release every fuck*ing thing I got
Including the voicemails right before you flipped your top
When me and Luis were tryin’ to stick two CD’s in the same spot
(Slim Shady ?????? I love you)
I love you too
Let me whisper sweet nothings into your ear, boo. Now what you say?
(It’s nothing)
Guess what I’ll do?
I’ll refresh your memory when you said “I want you”
Now should I keep going or should we call truce?
(You think you’re cute, right? Hahaha)
You bet your sweet ******* I do
(I’m Mary Poppins, b)
And I’m Superman, mmm
(Mary P. Slim Shady)
Comin’ at you
So if you’ll still be my (babygirl)
Then I’ll still be your (Superhero, Wilma M.)
Yeah, I’m right here
(You like this)
Nope. Not anymore, Dear.
It cuts like a (knife) when I tell ya get a (life)
But I’m movin on with mine
Nick, is that your (wife)
Well tell her to shut her mouth then I’ll leave her alone
If she don’t (sing this script?) then I’ma just keep goin
Damn sun, easy…..
Sisco got a 14 year old pregnant?!?
by EJah on Aug.05, 2009, under Artists, News
Sisco from Dru Hill and Thong Song fame has to pay child support for a Swiss sista from a baby born in 1999. The woman
was only 14 at the time. He apparently refused to take a paternity test, but still was the presumed father. I wish that was on Maury. But that’s what happens when you don’t take a paternity test, you’re the presumed father. But this was done in a Swiss court, so good luck collecting that money. I bet after she gets no money she’s going to come to the US and file again. They met at a bar after a Dru Hill concert in Zurich back in 99. Damn they let 14 year olds in bars in Switzerland? See and you thought Sisco was gay too (I did too, I actually still believe it but he’s just bi, LOL).
